Cruising the Island: Long Island’s Maritime Heritage

July 10 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We can’t ignore the fact that Long Island is an island and is forever being influenced by the waters surrounding us.  The waters have helped to create who we are today as a culture as well as the land we live on.  In this program, we will take a wandering tour of some of Long Island’s maritime history.  From oysters to shipwrecks to pirates, the marine environment has shaped Long Island so come join us for an exploration of Long Island’s maritime traditions.
This lecture is free with admission to the lighthouse.
